"Slate
Colored Junco"
This
animated fellow was captured in a moment of rest on a branch, before flitting
off to rummage through the leaves and debris on the ground, searching for
its next meal.
This Junco is abundant in brush clearings and the borders of coniferous forests in summer and in weedy fields, brush and wood margins in winter. Often found in large flocks, they hop on the ground and pick up small seeds but seldom scratch with their feet. A simple slow trill is their song.
