"North Pier Lighthouse, Duluth, Minnesota"
The sun streams down through a break in the clouds and floods across the north pier lighthouse in Duluth's historic canal park area.

Lighthouses have lit the way for ships for thousands of years. The light at the end of the north pier is just one of the most recent examples that have made the waterways of the world safe for maritime navigation.
Duluth, Minnesota is located at the western most point of Lake Superior. It is named after French trader, Daniel Greysolon, Sier du Lhut, who visited the area around 1679.
