"Canal
Park Winter I"
This
is the first in a pair of watercolor paintings. A large winter storm rolls
in from the east. Large waves break against the piers in Duluth, Minnesota.
The "Twin Ports" of Duluth/Superior are the leading bulk cargo ports on the Great Lakes. These are among the busiest in the nation. Each season, around 30 to 40 million tons of cargo pass through the port. In some years, the total tonnage has reached 75 million tons. The shipping season stops near the end of each year due to ice in the lake.
