"Canal
Park Summer I"
This
is the first in a matched set of watercolor paintings. It is a tranquil
day at the ship canal in Duluth, MN. The north pier lighthouse is on the
left.
Originally the canal where the ships enter the Duluth harbor was made of wooden piers. The channels were deepened from 20 feet to 24 feet in the 1930s. Today the piers are made of reinforced concrete and steel.
