This
painting by Rebecca, done in a impressionistic style, is of a beaver lodge
in northern Minnesota.
The beaver was the reason that the voyageurs came to Minnesota two-hundred years ago. The fine felt found in the hide of the beaver was used to make the mens tall hats in Europe at that time.
